Papua New Guinea housing and population census fails

 It appears this would be the likely conclusion as government minister Richard Masere has lashed out at the National Statistician John Igitoi.

Mr Masere who is the Minister for Administrative Services has written a letter to Mr Igitoi dated July 04, 2024.

He was obviously disappointed why electronic updates were not uploaded onto a cloud system for electronic data update, a central repository kind of system.

Mr Igitoi has responded that his staff were having challenges uploading data because of the Digicel network congestion.

The National Statistics Office contracted Digicel and set up a call centre at his headquarters in Port Moresby to respond to queries.

One of the main considerations why Digicel was most preferred was because of its reach.

But this has now somewhat become a poor business decision.
