What PNG's award winning journalist and blogger Scott Waide feels about the eviction?
1. The land belongs to a fund owned by Papua New Guineans.
3. People were given warnings - Two years of warnings, in fact.
4. Portions of the land were sold illegally.
5. Officers in the Lands Department took advantage of the weak administration.
6. The PM should not be setting a precedence by trying to intervene. It opens up a can of worms. If you pay and resettle, are you willing to do the same for every other ILLEGAL settlement?
7. If the PM is going to intervene, we need to solve the Manam, Bulolo and Catarets issues as well. We need to find land for them too. These are genuine issues that need attention.
